A SMALL village on Anglesey was celebrating a double victory last week.

After Bryngwran Bulls won the Lucas Oil Anglesey League, the pub which has supported the football club during its successes, the Iorwerth Arms, were crowned Wales' Best Rural Pub at the 2019 Countryside Alliance Awards.

Neville Evans Chairman of Bryngwran Cymunedol, who run the community pub which also sponsors some of The Bulls' kits, said: "We are over the moon. In effect, we've just done the double, which is an amazing achievement for a small village like Bryngwran. It just goes to show what can be achieved when everyone pulls together and works hard.

"This is a real credit to our hard working staff, customers and the Directors of our not-for-profit company. We now look forward to June 19, when we will be competing for the UK pub of the year prize in London.

"The Bulls are also in a few more cup finals so there might be more awards to come yet."

Bryngwran Bulls finally clinched the Anglesey League title this season after years of going close to doing so.

Commenting on their success, manager Richard Owen said: "There’s an amazing feeling this year at the club as this is possibly the best squad I have had here.

"Our main target this season was to win the league – everything else we’re still involved in at this point is a bonus but 100% effort will still be put into each and everyone.

“On a personal note, I am extremely proud of the lads for this achievement and for being part of such a small village club that has so much heart and support."
