A YOUNG gymnast from Gwynedd has been called up to the Wales squad.

8-year-old Millie Bohana of the Bangor Gymnastics Club spends 25 hours a week training alongside her school work.

Now, her determination is paying off as she has been selected for the Welsh Development Squad - where she will train in Cardiff twice a month.

With the best gymnasts at the highest level all competing to make the Welsh Team, Mille recently won three medals and ranked third overall to be selected for the squad that will compete in the British finals next month.

Millie trains six days a week and has also competed in the Level 4 grading - which are the highest level and are part of the Olympic Pathway.

Mair Eluned of the Bangor Gymnastics Club said: "This is the first time one of our athletes has achieved this and Millie is also one of the first in North Wales to be selected at this high level.

"Since being chosen, she has been training in Swansea with the Welsh Team. Coached by Bangor Gymnastics Development Coach Ellie Hill, Millie is certainly one to watch for the future as she’s an amazing athlete."
