IT is hoped a community concert will literally ‘raise the roof’ at a 14th century church in Snowdonia.

A fundraising musical evening is being held at the ancient Eglwys Sant Peris - St Peris Church, Nant Peris, to help raise cash to fund repairs to the eastern end of the church roof.

The concert has been organised as a joint initiative between the Church in Wales and the village chapel community.

The musical director will be professional pianist Ross Craigmile and the concert is being presented by Dei Tomos.

The entertaining evening will feature a number of performances including Côr Meibion Dyffryn Peris, Stephanie Welsby, Dylan, Ela and Lois Eifion, Karen Jones, Julie Bulman, Ross Craigmile and other local musicians.

During the event, the Reverend Allan Wilcox and the Reverend John Pritchard will also address the audience.

Ross Craigmile said: “The concert will be a wonderful opportunity to unite the chapel and church community in Nant Peris in a positive way.

“All the money raised on the night will go towards the funds for repairing the roof of the church.

“The concert will be full of variety, with something for everyone, it will be of a very high standard with excellent performers and local artists."

“We are really hoping we will literally raise the roof, and it should be a fantastic evening for the whole community.”

The concert starts at Eglwys Sant Peris - St Peris Church, Nant Peris, 7pm, on Sunday, May 5.

Tickets are £8 and available from Iola Owen on 01286 871457.
