FIREFIGHTERS continue to battle a large woodland fire near Betws-y-Coed.

The fire started on Monday afternoon, and five appliances, including two off road vehicles, from a number of fire stations were deployed to tackle the blaze.

In a tweet yesterday North Wales Fire and Rescue said: "We currently have five crews dealing with a large fire in woodland in #BetwsYCoed, please take care if you are in the area.

"Please be mindful when enjoying this warm weather that fires can easily spread, take extra care when disposing of cigarettes and bbqs."
