PARTS of North Wales will be hotter than holiday destinations in Europe over the Easter weekend.

According to the Met Office, Rhyl will hit temperatures of up to 19C on Saturday, April 20 and 18C on Easter Sunday.

Llandudno may also experience highs of 18C and 17C over the weekend as well as Corwen in Denbighshire and Llangollen, which will see temperatures of up to 19C on Friday and Saturday.

Forecasters say the UK could be hotter than St Tropez in the South of France, Corfu, Bodrum in Southern Turkey and the Spanish island of Majorca which is to be cloudy on Saturday and Sunday.

Corfu is set to reach temperatures of 20C on Easter Sunday while Bodrum will see highs of 18C.

Forecaster Simon Partridge said: "After there was a chilly spell this weekend, we are going to see temperatures gradually increase through the week.

"By the weekend we could see in parts of the country temperatures of around 20C (68F), or just above."

Areas such as Bangor in Gwynedd are expected to see temperatures of about 15C.
