A COMMUNITY on Anglesey has rallied round to support one of their own after she was diagnosed with germ cell cancer.

Tony made the devastating announcement about 10-year-old daughter Maisy’s health on facebook on Friday, April 5.

Following the news, people in the Town of Amlwch where they live have pulled together to show their support for the family.

Local football enthusiast Alan Gray, known for his charity work in the area, showed his generosity by donating a signed Liverpool shirt to Maisy’s brother Mylo, 11.

He uncle Paul is also stepping in to help raise funds by climbing Snowdon on April 27.

A go fund me has been set up to help support the family with the unexpected costs of travel, accommodation and anything else they may need to pay for. It has so far raised £1490 of its £2500 target.

The #teammaisy movement is set to come up with several more fundraising ideas over the next few weeks too.

Tony Fitzmaurice said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for absolutely everything.

“We are overwhelmed by the support, generosity and love we have received over the past few manic days.

“Maisy has personally said thank you and that everyone being nice makes her happy and feel better.”

Maisy spent time at Ysbyty Gwynedd earlier in the week and is set to begin treatment next Tuesday.

At the time of writing, Maisy was set to lead her “favourite team in the world”, Amlwch Town Ladies FC, out onto the Lon Bach pitch as a mascot on Wednesday night.

On Saturday, one of their players, Lexi Crawley paid tribute to the 10-year-old, by revealing a message under her Amlwch Ladies shirt which read "For Maisy, ATLFC" when celebrating a goal against Wrexham Ladies.

North Wales Chronicle:

“She’s the strongest, bravest and most amazing little girl I know,” Tony added.

“We know that once things start, they are going to be an awful lot harder, complicated and a lot longer than first led to believe. However, we are so appreciative of everything everyone is doing."
