DENBIGHSHIRE residents are being urged to held ensure the future of the UK’s fastest declining mammal.

Wildlife charity People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) is calling for volunteers to aid the extremely endangered water vole by taking part in its annual survey from Monday, April 15 until Saturday, June 15.

Between 1989 and 1998 the population of these riverside residents crashed by almost 90 percent

To help save this species, volunteers are asked to survey one of PTES’ pre-selected sites in Wales or to register a new site if there isn't currently one nearby in order to find out where water voles are living and where they are most in need of conservation action.

Volunteers need to register online and after that simply enter their postcode to find the closest survey site or register a suitable site near where they live.
