A BANGOR bus driver who 'goes the extra mile' for her passengers has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Arriva bus driver Amanda Young has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious ‘Driver of the Year’ title.

Amanda, from Bangor, was initially shortlisted for the award in February after being chosen by passengers for her outstanding customer care.

Since then, she has gone head-to- head with other Arriva drivers in North Wales and has been voted as one of six to go through to the national final.

The Driver of the Year award will be presented at a glamorous awards ceremony on April 25.

Arriva staff will come together from across all regions will come together for the highly anticipated event.

Amanda said: “I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me so far to help me reach this stage of the competition.

"I feel so honoured to have made it down to the final six, especially out of all the wonderful and talented drivers that were shortlisted.

“I feel proud to represent North Wales at the awards and no matter what the outcome is, my hard work and passion will certainly not end here!”

The award is given to those in recognition of their dedication and willingness to go the extra mile over the course of the last 12 months, is part of Arriva’s annual ‘Made a Difference’ awards.
