A 27-YEAR-OLD man was jailed for twelve months and banned from Anglesey pubs for two years after he admitted having a knuckleduster, cocaine and using threatening behaviour.

David Lee Alan Owen, of Bethesda Street, Amlwch, had been held by police after being out locally with his family watching the Wales rugby victory over England.

He’d been threatening to a pub doorman and wore a knuckleduster, Caernarfon crown court heard.

Judge Huw Rees told Owen today(FRI):”Unbelievably, you ended up fighting with your own father in the street.”

He said :”You are old enough and mature enough to discipline yourself.”

Forfeiture was ordered of the weapon.

Defence barrister Elen Owen said a happy day had been marred when far too much alcohol was drunk by the defendant. Owen was now working as a labourer and training as a joiner.

“He has a real problem with his behaviour after he has been drinking alcohol. He has an unenviable record,” counsel remarked. But she added :”Imprisonment hasn’t worked for this young man.”

Prosecuting barrister Karl Scholz said Owen’s father had intervened and walked his son away from the pub to calm him. But Owen fought with his dad.

* North Wales Police officer PC 3233 Dylan James Thomas said: “We welcome today’s sentence.

"This was a particularly nasty incident, which happened in a busy location in Amlwch where members of the public had attended to watch a rugby match.

"Owen is a prolific offender and this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. His sentence will have a massive impact locally.”
