AN 84-year-old time-waster branded Wales’s worst 999 pest was back in jail on Thursday night after resuming his nuisance calls within days of being freed from prison.

Raymond Owen, of Caernarfon Road, Bangor, Gwynedd, admitted breaching a criminal behaviour order again by calling the police and ambulance service.

Magistrates at Caernarfon jailed him for eight weeks.

Prosecutor Diane Williams said: “He’s contacted the emergency services on numerous occasions since he was released from custody on Friday, having first been hospitalised.

“He used his home phone number and it’s clear there was no medical emergency.”

Police found him lying on a sofa.

Defence solicitor Glyn Roberts said Owen was subject to recall to prison possibly for 28 days.

Owen had an exemplary record in the army and was once a railway supervisor.

Something had happened to change him, Mr Roberts remarked.

Owen, claiming to be hard of hearing, told the court :”I wouldn’t harm a fly.”
