AN ASSEMBLY Member has been put "in the hot seat" when he was grilled by a group of Denbighshire pupils.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar visited St Brigid’s in Denbigh on Monday, April 1 to speak to year eight pupils about his role and to take questions.

Mr Millar said: “It was a grilling, but I enjoyed it! It was a real pleasure to spend time with these young people who showed a keen interest in Welsh politics.

“They really put me in the hot seat and I was very impressed by the high standard of questions they fired at me.

“The questions they asked covered an array of topics including the voting age, tax, how to get involved in politics and the Welsh Government’s proposed smacking ban.

“Our young people are our future and our democracy will only work if both current and future members of the electorate exercise their hard won right to hold politicians to account and to vote."
