YOUNG Sports stars on Anglesey had the opportunity to enjoy an inline skating session with a former world champion last week.

On March 27, the Silver Young Ambassadors Conference at the Science Park in Gaerwen saw 13 young athletes take part in the session led by Jenna Downing.

Jenna has competed in rollerblading events since she was eight-year-old and turned professional when she was just 12.

She was the LG Action Sports World Champion in 2008 and had also been crowned British Champion ten times before the age of 21.

Last week, she put Anglesey's Young Ambassadors through their paces with a series of activities to take part in.

Community sport development officer Barry Edwards, who attended the session, said: "The Silver Young Ambassadors Conference was a great success with our future leaders gaining valuable experience in promoting health and physical activity.

"We would also like to thank Jenna Downing, who inspired Anglesey's Ambassadors. Those who took part have been selected by their Physical Education departments and will work towards becoming a Gold Ambassador over the next 12 months."

There are currently over 2,800 active Young Ambassadors based across Wales. The programme is a partnership between Sport Wales, the Youth Sport Trust and the sport development team in each local Authority.
