A SNOWDONIA cafe and gift shop has been awarded a licence to sell alcohol after a compromise agreement was reached with local residents.
Llanberis Station Café, Gift Shop and Trading Post in Llanberis had originally applied for a licence to play recorded music and sell alcohol both on and off the premises between 8am and 11pm.
But these plans had raised concerns it would lead to people convening in the area and sparking fears due to the busy road nearby, despite North Wales Police raising no objection.
But after a mediation meeting with the residents applicants, the Snowdon Mountain Railway, it was agreed that the application would be amended. to restrict alcohol sales to between 9am and 6pm and to only sell ‘specialist’ bottles of beer and spirits at the Trading Post.
It was also agreed to sell alcohol for consumption off the Trading Post premises only with no recorded music to be played at any time.
The report presented to members of the Central Licensing Sub-Committee who met in Caernarfon this afternoon (Wednesday), noted: As a result of the meeting, the applicant agreed to compromise and propose changes and accept conditions on the application.
“As the objectors and the applicant have already agreed to the changes noted , it is recommended that this Committee approve the application.”
The application was approved unanimously.
