A MAN has died after sustaining serious injuries near Denbigh castle. 

The man, understood to be from the Denbigh area, was pronounced dead at the scene on New Road on Tuesday afternoon, and the incident currently being treated as unexplained.

Supt Neil Harrison said: “We were called to a report of a man having sustained serious injuries at an address in New Road, Denbigh at 12.37pm on Tuesday, March 26.

"Sadly the local man was pronounced dead at the scene. The next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained, so there will be police activity in the vicinity.”

The Welsh Ambulance Service was also in attendance, sending an air ambulance to the scene.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 12:30pm today to an incident on New Road, Denbigh. We responded with an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner vehicle, an emergency ambulance and an air ambulance."

Residents posting on social media group Town Talk - Denbigh News & Views confirmed that nearby road Love Lane has been closed.

A spokesperson for police said: "We were called at 12.37pm to an address in Denbigh following reports of a man being seriously injured."
