A MAN was taken to hospital by air ambulance following a road traffic collision on the A487 Porthmadog bypass.

The collision involved two vehicles, one of them a heavy good vehicle.

North Wales Police tweeted: “The bypass between Porthmadog and Penrhyndeudraeth is closed for vehicle recovery following a collision between a HGV and a van just before 9am today, One person has been flown to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.

“Motorists are asked to take alternative routes."

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Porthmadog and Harlech attended a road traffic accident involving two vehicles, on the bypass.

“One casualty was cut out of his vehicle and taken to hospital by the air ambulance.”
