THE artistic director of Pontio, Bangor’s arts and innovation centre, is to leave her post after seven years in post.
Elen ap Robert is to leave her Pontio in August. She said: “Looking back at my time at Ponto, I’m proud of what has been achieved here. It includes staging Chwalfa to mark the centre’s opening. Also arranging the LLECHI joint project with 9Bach and some of the nation’s best artists. In addition creating the co-production Mae ’na Le with No fit State Circus, and co-creating Christmas shows for children. Attracting big names such as Courntney Pine, Philip Pullman, Public Service Broadcasting, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre company and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to play in Theatr Bryn Terfel and our smaller studio.
Professor Jerry Hunter, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Bangor University said: “Elen has been responsible for establishing the centre’s artistic vision, leading Pontio through the challenge of a delayed opening. She recruited a team to run the centre and its artistic programme .
