HOLYHEAD’S skate park was officially opened to the public and has proved a big hit with youngsters.

Although skaters got a chance to try out the park back in January, it was formerly opened with a special ceremony led by the town’s Mayor Councilor Keith Thomas, on Monday, February 25.

Children of all ages took to the ramps, and half pipes on the recreational facility used for skateboarding, scooters and inline skating.

The park, which has cost £50,000 plus, has been designed with help and input from local skaters.

Dale Moffat, who helps runs the pavilion’s tennis and basketball courts, bowling greens, bike track and skate park, said: “We have had a lot of feedback from people already, and the skate park is proving to be really popular with everyone.

He added: “It it is something that people in Holyhead had been wanting for quite a while and is definitely a benefit to the area, and is a really great place for people to come and enjoy themselves.”
