A BANGOR man who was jailed for beating up his ex-partner had used a credit card stolen from a car to steal a sex toy from a Bangor shop.

He was spotted on CCTV after taking it from a shop called Nice 'n' Naughty in Bangor.

James Dean Harrison, 39, has been sent to prison for 18 weeks for assaulting Sioned Thomas on March 1. He also pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of the card at the "adult shop" at the beginning of February, and using it to steal alcohol from Asda. He'd also shoplifted at Boots.

Prosecuting at Llandudno court on Thursday Justin Espie said a woman from whose car the card had been stolen contacted her bank after seeing transactions on her account for Nice 'n' Naughty and Asda.

Dealing with the 1am assault, Mr Espie said the victim, with whom there had been a one-and-a-half year relationship previously, had been punched, had liquid poured over her, was grabbed around the neck, a lighter hurled at her head and she was threatened with a hammer.

Harrison had said : "What am I doing? - I can't do this to you. Phone the police, I'll have to go to jail."

Defence solicitor Deborah Davies said Harrison, of Plas Gwenllian, Bangor, felt disgraced. "He wants to go back to jail to get his head straight and start again. He's been living between addresses and taking amphetamine and it's not a good mix."

Court chairman Robert Bradley described the common assault as "extremely unpleasant and intimidating - therefore custody is appropriate."

He must pay £62 compensation to Boots - and £30 for the sex toy.
