A child porn pervert jailed six years ago for similar offending received a two-year community order and a “last chance” to change from a judge.

Anthony Walker, 49, of Abererch Road, Pwllheli, was motivated to change and seek help, Caernarfon crown court was told.

Unknown to her, Walker had used his wife’s computer account to try to hide his activities from police supervising him as a result of the previous conviction, prosecuting barrister Elen Owen said.

Ryan Rothwell, defending, said Walker had been at “rock bottom” last summer.

“Since then there has been a steady period of change,” counsel maintained.

“He was advised to seek help from the Lucy Faithfull Foundation. He’s spoken to someone from Lucy Faithfull and to the mental health services.”

Mr Rothwell said Walker had been trying to get out of a “rut.”

A short prison term wouldn’t rehabilitate him and he also cared for his wife who would be isolated without him.

Judge Huw Rees said in 2013 there was no obligation on the probation service to supervise Walker following his release from prison.

“That’s the strongest point in his favour,” the judge remarked.

He said Walker had admitted five offences and it appeared he hadn’t learned his lesson because of his re-offending. “Your offending was purposeful and planned,” he said.

“You have shown persistence in your perversion.”

Most of the 500 images were in the lowest category of seriousness.

“Your new-found expressed motivation to address this offending will be tested,” Judge Rees added.

“You should consider this to be your last chance.

“Don’t regard this as a soft option. This is meant to be a constructive sentence.”
