THE Conwy Valley railway line re-opened today until next week following a rock fall in a tunnel near Blaenau Ffestiniog.
The line was closed last week between Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog and buses provided a replacement service.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “The line re-opened following specialist teams excavating the rock, installing netting and 32 rock anchors to secure the remaining rock and make it safe for trains to pass through.
“We would like to thank passengers for bearing with us while our engineers undertook repairs to the Ffestiniog Tunnel and we apologise to them for any disruption caused during the closure.”
Fallen rocks were identified in the tunnel on Sunday January 20, and a section of the line was closed while engineers undertook work on the 140 year old tunnel.
