A PRIMARY School in Gwynedd secured the highest grade possible during a recent inspection.

School's inspectorate Estyn's recent report confirms that Ysgol Gynradd Dolbadarn in Llanberis has achieved "excellent" status.

Following their visit to the school in the autumn, Estyn adjudged the highest possible grade to the school in every one of its five inspection areas.

They are one of just a small number of primary schools in Wales to achieve an 'Excellent' grade during 2018.

Commenting on the school's success, headteacher Gareth Fôn Jones said: "As headteacher, I take great pride in the excellent report from Estyn. It is a fair reflection of the hard work of all staff involved, without forgetting the pupils.

"We have a constructive partnership with the governing body that is key to maintaining a successful school along with the support of the parents. The report has brought us great pride as a team who give our best for the benefit of the pupils."

In their recent report, Estyn confirms that the 177-pupil school has ‘robust leadership’ and that the school’s senior management team ‘have very high expectations that are based on providing education of the highest possible quality’.

They also note that the pupils ‘show obvious pride in their school’, and that they are polite, friendly and achieve well.

Estyn's report further states specifically that "the voice of the pupil is a very strong element of the work of the school" and that "pupils have "excellent opportunities to express opinions and contribute to different aspects of work and school community."
