A COUNCIL has moved to reassure residents ahead of a review of sheltered housing schemes.

Flintshire Council will review a report on sheltered housing at their Community and Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting next week.

Ahead of the meeting a council spokesman said: “The report looks at the scope of reviewing our sheltered housing schemes and considers the best use of the current housing stock to meet current and future local housing need.

“It sets out analysis that has been done to date but also stipulates that further work is needed before any decisions are made.

“The committee will be asked to agree the scope of a review to consider options for schemes that may not be suitable for sheltered accommodation and provide a series of recommendations for members to consider.”

The council has a number of sheltered housing properties which are empty at any time and some schemes have very small waiting lists.

Any residents over 55 and who have housing issues are urged to contact the council’s housing solutions team on 01352 703777 or email housingsolutionstriage@flintshire.gov.uk.

Alternatively call in at any of Flintshire Council’s Flintshire Connects Centres where the team can advise on various housing options.

A Flintshire Council spokesman added: “The council wants to reassure residents that nothing will happen to any scheme and no final decisions will be made without working with tenants of any sheltered housing scheme and that this report forms part of the on-going process of consideration.”

The scrutiny committee meeting is to take place at County Hall in Mold on Wednesday morning.
