A PORTHMADOG born journalist, poet, actor and author has just published a book of poetry drawing inspiration from North Wales.
Joe Neal trained as a journalist on the Western Mail in Cardiff before travelling the world as an actor and journalist.
His latest book: Rossetti’s Wombat reflects his passion for North Wales expressed in a range of poems, shaped by his childhood in North Wales and based upon his experiences of Betws-y-Coed, Morfa Bychan, Croesor, Capel Celyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Snowdonia in general.
As an actor, he has performed on stage, radio and television in Britain and Ireland and has appeared in London’s West End and in Dublin’s Abbey and Gate theatres and in provincial theatres in the UK. Between acting work Neal writes extensively on the countryside and natural history as well as devoting time to poetry and short stories which he believes should be read aloud.
As a journalist he has written extensively for the Times, Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Daily Express.
