AN ANNUAL Boxing Day charity football match and auction has raised over £2000 for local organisations.

This year, members of the ladies and walking football teams joined in as Amlwch Port beat Amlwch Town 2-0 in the yearly fixture thanks to goals from Chris Byast and Gethin Rowlands.

The fundraiser aims to collect money for local charities and events, with a few in particular in mind this time around.

"This year we have been raising money towards bringing Copper Fest back to the Town," said Alan Gray, who took over as organiser in 2011.

"Our local community group #CaruAmlwch are currently raising funds to install a park and 5 a side court in Craig-y-Don so we hope to help them and the RNLI lifeboat team too."

A total of £2,140 has been collected , with money still coming in. Over the last three years, the fundraiser, which also includes an auction and raffles, has raised over £10,000 for local causes.
