A MAN had to be cut free from a van and was taken to hospital after a four vehicle accident in Denbighshire.

The collision happened on the A525 Rhewl to Pentre Llanrhaedr route, between Ruthin and Denbigh, on Saturday night at 10.29pm.

The road was closed for about eight hours, and motorists were warned to take alternative routes. The road reopened at about 6.30am on Sunday.

Fire, ambulance and police services were called to the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said "North Wales Fire and Rescue Service mobilised appliances from Denbigh and Ruthin.

"After the man was cut free from his van, he was then handed to the ambulance service and taken to hospital."
