AT THIS time of great joy when we celebrate the birth of Jesus let us try and bring cheer to all our citizens of Bangor too.

Let us stay awhile from the commercial aspects of this season and consider those in our fantastic community that are less fortunate.

Yes, Bangor is a truly brilliant place to live with facilities second to none on our doorstep, but we also have people that are sleeping out on these cold nights.

We have people that find it hard to make ends meet and have to visit our food bank at the cathedral.

Can we not pass these Bangor citizens by but ask ourselves what can I do to improve their lot? Let us consider those people that live close by that may be lonely and would welcome a kind word or gesture.

Numerous organisations are working diligently within our city to make a difference in these peoples lives and I, as First Citizen, would like to congratulate and thank them for their efforts.

May I on behalf of Bangor City Council wish everyone in Bangor a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

CLLR JOHN WYNN JONES

Mayor of Bangor
