TWO businesses on Anglesey are hoping to help and support hundreds of new projects after securing a £1m contract to set up an Enterprise Hub.

Llangefni based Menter Môn and the Menai Science Park (M-SParc), recently secured a Welsh Government contract that will see them run one of five new enterprise hubs based across Wales.

The duo will be responsible for the North-West Wales hub that will cover Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy and Denbighshire from the new M-SParc building at Gaerwen.

The hub will have seven satellites – the Menter Môn offices in Llangefni and Porthmadog and others at Botwnnog, Dolgellau, Conwy Business Centre, Ruthin industrial estate and Rhyl.

One hub in Wrexham is already up-and-running with one other based in mid-Wales and two in south Wales.

Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, the Anglesey project will be supported for three years.

The new contract means that Menter Môn can extend the services it already offers, with managing director Dafydd Gruffydd expecting the North-West Wales hub to officially start operating in January 2019.

"The hub will be a space for businesses to come together in a creative and collaborative environment to develop and grow ideas, building a community of entrepreneurs to boost the local economy," Mr Gruffydd said.

"We believe that the skills and services both Menter Môn and M-SParc bring to this project complement each other, and it’s a great opportunity to develop new partnerships in different sectors. It’s what we’re all about.

"No matter what stage of the journey people are at or what their specific area of interest is, we will ensure they have plenty of support and guidance to help their business grow and prosper."

M-SParc director Pryderi ap Rhisiart added: "We’re delighted to be working with Menter Môn on this contract and it is a great opportunity for business and entrepreneurs to come together to make the most of the fantastic facilities we have on offer here."

Among the facilities on offer will be hot-desking, meeting areas, high speed internet access, and mail handling.

Entrepreneurs at the hub will have access to the breadth of support available from Business Wales as well as from partners including Colleges, Universities, local authorities and the Development Bank of Wales.
