THE quickest "Jones" male and female runners to cross the line in the 2019 'Jones Crisps' Anglesey Half Marathon will be awarded a special cash prize of £100 each.

Taking place on March 3, the 13.1 mile race starts on the world famous Menai Suspension Bridge before following the coast road to Beaumaris Castle and back around.

The next edition of the event will include the special incentive for any runner with the last name Jones who manages the fastest time in the male and female categories.

Geraint Hughes from Jones Crisps said: "Jones is the most common surname in Wales, and Jones Crisps are proud to be part of the Jones family.

"We therefore wanted to celebrate the surname and give a special award to the fastest male and female runner who share this special name."

"We are quite sure that there's no other race on this planet that offers a special prize for runners named Jones. It's not as easy as it may sound though, as there will be plenty of Joneses running in this part of the World."

During this year's event held at the start of 2018, over 200 "Joneses" gathered on the starting line for a photo before the race.

The Half Marathon is just one of the races held on the day. Organisers Always Aim High Events also set up a 10k run, and a one-mile children’s race.

"The majority of the course is over closed roads, so it’s suitable for runners of all abilities, and through some spectacular scenery, and the feedback from runners is that it’s always a lovely event to take in” said Tim Lloyd, Always Aim High Events director.

"All the adults crossing the half marathon and 10k run finish line will he handed a packet of Jones Crisps to help them replenish their carbohydrate and salt levels after their exertion.

"Crisps are an excellent way for runners to stoke up after a run, to help their energy levels and we know our competitors love them."

With registrations flooding in already, Always Aim High Events are urging runners to get their application forms in as soon as possible. To register, visit:
