BETSI CADWALADR University Health Board officials have confirmed they will be taking over the running of Cambria Surgery in Holyhead from April 2019.

The surgery’s partners gave notice that they were terminating their contract with the Health Board to provide GP services from Cambria practice in June.

Health board officials say plans are now in place to ensure a "smooth takeover" for the benefit of the surgery's 5,500 registered patients.

Wyn Thomas, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s assistant director for primary care in the West, said: “Despite a long period of national advertising the practice to seek a new partnership, we have been unsuccessful.

“To ensure Cambria Surgery continues to provide services to patients we can confirm that from April 1 2019, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will take over the management of the surgery and the employment of the staff there."

Mr Thomas added that the health board are also in the process of advertising for two full time GP’s to work at the practice.

"We would like to reassure patients that there will be a continuity of services for the practice and there is no need for them to take any action or to register with a different GP practice." he said.

Cambria Surgery serves the whole of Holyhead and its surrounding areas including Trearddur Bay, Valley, Caergeiliog, Bodedern, Rhoscolyn, Llanfachraeth and Llanfaethlu.
