THE OWNERS of two holiday homes in Trearddur Bay are celebrating after their properties were named some of the best in the UK in a national travel awards programme run by leading holiday rental firm, Sykes Holiday Cottages.

Y Lleiaf, which scooped gold in the Best for Beaches category, is a beautiful end-terrace cottage just 200 yards from the award-winning Porth Dafarch Blue Flag beach.

Meanwhile, Isallt Lodge picked up silver in the Best for Walking category given the fantastic walking trails nearby, including a stunning coastal route right on the property’s doorstep.

Husband and wife team Nicky and Matt first got into holiday letting to help them cover the costs of running Y Lleiaf, which they had originally purchased as a family holiday home.

Now operating two holiday lets, the couple’s hard work is paying off as both properties have become popular choices for holidaymakers wanting to explore the local area.

"It was such an amazing feeling to hear that we had won an award for Y Lleiaf and Isallt Lodge as well," Nicky said.

"We enjoy talking to our guests about the great things to see in Anglesey and love giving them advice based on what they want to get out of their holiday, which makes the experience very personal.

"We’re always thrilled when we receive positive reviews and when guests return to the property, and these two awards are really the cherry on top."

The Sykes Gem Awards celebrate the best in holiday cottage accommodation across the UK and Ireland and are judged by a panel of industry experts.

Now in its second year, the awards received thousands of entries from all corners of the UK.

Y Lleiaf and Isallt Lodge were just two of 13 Welsh holiday homes recognised at this year's ceremony.
