A HOLYHEAD 10-year-old is in the running to be a charity champ.
Emily Louise Garden raised around £700 for Cancer Research running a 5k marathon, and by organising other fundraising events and activities.
The Ysgol Llanfawr pupil organised a Halloween Christmas party for children at the Gwelfor Community Centre and has arranged various raffles and collections for town charities.
She was inspired to help raise money for cancer research , as her dad, Adie Roberts, works at the Cancer Research shop in Holyhead.
During her run, which started at the Gwelfor Community Centre, she was accompanied by Ben Williams, who runs with the Eryri Harriers.
Mum Stacey Garden said: “ Emily is amazing, she just wants to help people. She decided to combine her love of running with raising money to help.
“She is always doing something, whether it is collecting money for the foodbank with her great grandad, or arranging collections and raffles. At the Halloween party she sold 60 tickets, organised the games and decorations herself. It was fantastic.”
Great grandad photographer Richard Burnell said: “It was my privilege and pleasure to record my great granddaughter’s achievement during her 5k run in aid of cancer relief. We are all very proud.”
