AN ANGLESEY man accused of raping, and sexually abusing a woman with food, as he used her for his sexual fantasies was jailed for 13 years on Thursday.

Lindsay Maher, 53, of Bro’r Ysgol, Bodedern, was convicted by a jury of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.

Recorder Wyn Lloyd Jones told him at Caernarfon crown court the use of the objects “was part of the humiliation and degradation of the victim.”

The judge said :”You have shown no remorse whatsoever.”

The way Maher acted on arrest “confirms your total lack of respect for her.”

Maher must register as a sex offender.

Prosecuting counsel Anna Pope said the victim went to her GP for advice and police were called in.

“I am now trying to move on,” the victim said in a statement.

Miss Pope said chocolate and a cucumber were used by Maher.

Defence barrister Duncan Bould said Maher suffered ill health and would find the jail term “very difficult.” Counsel said while remanded in custody he had been attacked.
