THE siege of Troy will be reimagined as a futuristic satire across the coast this autumn.

Shakespeare's Trojan masterpiece Troilus and Cressida will screen live from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon to the Prestatyn Scala, Vue Rhyl, Theatr Colwyn and the Ucheldre Centre and this November.

One of Shakespeare's most complex plays finds the Greek army encamped under the walls of Troy at a stalemate with the defenders.

The brother of Hector and Paris, Troilus is much distracted from these military concerns by his love for Cressida, the daughter of a Trojan who has defected to the Greek camp whilst leaving his daughter in Troy.

Troilus and Cressida swear they will always be true to one another- but in the seventh year of the siege their innocence is tested, and exposed to the savage corrupting influence of war.

In this latest staging of the play, virtuoso percussionist Evelyn Glennie collaborates with RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran to create a satirical futuristic vision of a world resounding in battle.

The play screens on Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm.

Tickets for the Scala are £15, available from merlinprestatyn.admit-one.eu,£17.54 for the Vue, available myvue.com, £12 at Theatr Colwyn, available from tickets.venuecymru.co.uk and to be announced for the Ucheldre Centre, available from ucheldre.org.
