TO celebrate two special milestones a Bangor group has been digging in to help the community.
A flower planting in the Bible Garden at Bangor Cathedral was organised by the Bangor Lions Club. The national Lions Club is celebrating its centennial year and the Bangor group is marking its 50th anniversary. The Lions’ centennial project saw them join up with Menter Fachwen, which supports adults with learning disabilities. They helped the Lions members weed and plant lavender, and other perennials, in the garden which had become badly neglected.
Beryl Roberts, Bangor Lyons president, said: “We hope the people of Bangor will enjoy the garden again, it’s a lovely place of peace and tranquility. We’d love to have new members, and cash donations to help us do more. Perennial plants (only) are welcome. Thanks to everyone who has helped us over the years and with this project.” Contact: beryl.rob@hotmail.com
