FARMERS look set to toast a special 100 year anniversary at this year's Anglesey Show.

The island's annual county show will provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the NFU Cymru branch on Anglesey.

Members are invited to a special drinks reception at the NFU Cymru stand, at the show, where they will join the current county officeholder team to mark the occasion and raise a glass . The reception, which is open to all members will take place at 3pm, on the NFU Cymru stand, on Tuesday, August 14.

Elwyn Evans, Anglesey county chairman said: “100 years of NFU Cymru’s presence on Anglesey is quite an achievement. The Union has represented farmers on the island through a period of significant change.

“From what were simple beginnings, NFU Cymru has developed into a much respected trade association, and has developed to include lobbying on behalf of farmers, offering significant insurance and investment advice with its close links with NFU Mutual, along with member affinities as diverse as farm vehicles, fuel, tyres and legal assistance.”

During the reception, members will be able to learn more about the extended services that are available to them as part of their membership package.

Members unable to make the Tuesday reception are welcome to visit the NFU Cymru stand during the two day Anglesey show, which is being held at the Mona Showground between Tuesday, August 14 - Wednesday, August 15.

Visitors will get a chance to meet the local team from the Llangefni office, enjoy light refreshments and get more information about joining NFU Cymru.
