A BANGOR councillor has been elected the new chair of Plaid Cymru's Gwynedd group.
Cllr Elin Walker-Jones will replace Morfa Nefyn's Sian Hughes as she has decided to stand down in order to develop her nursing career.
The Glyder ward representative was unanimously elected to the role and will take on the position with immediate effect.
"Elin is an effective councillor with a keen interest in the language and culture," said Plaid Cymru Gwynedd leader cllr Dyfrig Siencyn.
"We look forward to working with her and gain from her experience and expertise during the coming months."
Aside from being a councillor, Mrs Walker-Jones works with children with learning disabilities as an autism psychologist.
