STAFF at the children's ward of Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor have raised £975.72 thanks to the hospital's lively celebrations to mark the NHS' 70th birthday..

On July 5, staff from several wards gathered together to help mark the special occasion with several events taking place throughout the hospital.

The children’s ward held a fundraiser and treasure hunt and raised the substantial amount of money which will now be put back towards the ward.

A tea party was held in the main reception as members of the public came along to enjoy some cake, drink some tea and be entertained by "The Ghostbuskers" who put on a live musical performance for guests.

Several people who attended wore fancy dress costumes, with staff from the Tegid ward wearing historical nurses outfits from years gone by.

Staff from the maternity ward also joined in with the fun, hosting a ‘Call the Midwife’ themed party.

NHS charity Awyr Las thanked staff for their hard work in organising a busy but successful day of events.
