TRANSATLANTIC traditions are coming to the Vic, at Menai Bridge with the Vera Van Heeringen Trio.

Vera is a flatpicking, singer/songwriter who writes tunes and songs in the genre of Americana, roots, bluegrass and old-time. Raised in the acoustic music scene in her native Holland, Vera has long been recognised for her gutsy guitar style. In 2015 she released her second album, Proper Brew, which featured musicians such as Tim O’Brien, Dirk Powell, Rayna Gellert and Kris Drever. Vera is now working on her third album.

Audiences can expect an evening outstanding flatpicking, fulsome fiddle playing, heartbreaking lyrics, natural vocal tone and driving tunes.

Currently Vera tours with an acoustic trio featuring harmony king Dave Luke on guitar, vocals and mandolin, and double-bass stalwart Andy Seward.

Dave has been the backbone of many country bands and toured extensively with Nashville singer songwriter Gail Davies, playing venues like the Grand Ole Opry. Musician and record producer Andy Seward was part of Kate Rusby’s band as well as working with Eddi Reader, Richard Thompson, Andy Cutting, Martin Simpson and Brooks Williams. The Vera Van Heeringen Trio are at the Victoria Hotel, Menai Bridge on Wednesday, July 11. Doors open 8.00pm. Tickets from Palas Print, Caernarfon and Mudshark Records, Bangor.
