POLICE are appealing for information after a clown was seen acting in a “suspicious manner” near a Bangor school.

North Wales Police responded to a call from staff at Ysgol-y-Garnedd in Penrhos Road just after 12.40pm on Thursday, June 7.

According to a police tweet, a nine-year-old pupil had reported seeing what appeared to be someone dressed up as a clown, acting suspiciously, in the fields at the rear of the school.

Police officers were deployed to the area but, despite a thorough and prolonged search, they found no trace of any suspicious person.

Sgt Dana Baxter said: “We are keeping an open mind as to what may have been sighted, and officers will remain in the area to provide a visible presence and provide community reassurance.”

Anyone with information is asked to telephone police on 101, quoting reference number W075769.
