BEAUMARIS allotments are top of the crop after gaining national recognition.

After recently celebrating their centenary, the allotments are being opened to the public for the first time under the National Garden Scheme, on Saturday, July, 7 and Sunday, July 8.

They have also been chosen by the Sunday Telegraph as one of the UK's Top 30 new gardens to visit.

On the open days, visitors will “see behind the scenes,” learn how to create a 'good plot,' grow plants to create natural dyes and attract bees and hear about home-made wine production.

"We think this is going to be a particularly popular, as the owner of the allotment vineyard is planning to give free samples!" said Jill Anker, of the Beaumaris Allotments Society.

" Being in the top 30 new gardens in the UK is a wonderful honour for us."

There will also be a plant sale, book stall and a centenary celebration display. Funds raised will go to the Beaumaris Lifeboat and entry fees to NGS charities. For more information email: beaumarisallotmentsociety@outlook.com.
