THE first car sprint meeting of the 2018 season takes place at Anglesey Circuit this coming weekend.

Hosting the event are the the Longton & District Motor Club, who will run on the National Circuit on Saturday, and the International Circuit on Sunday.

Getting an early start to the sprint and hill-climb season in motor sport is becoming more popular, as it not only gives competitors points in their championships that others will have to chase later in the season, but also enables them to get their cars set up properly with plenty of runs available.

The Longton and District Motor Club ran an early event last year as a trial and that has been justified, with the entry list up by 50 per cent for this year’s season opener.

Competitors are entered from different championships, including the club’s own Northern Speed Championship, and Sprint Series, plus entries from the Liverpool Motor Club, Westfield Sports Car Club, Midland Automobile Club and SPD HSA Speed series.

This year also sees competitors from the TVR Club Championship and the SD34Group joining in with the fun. With a wide variety of cars all being brought out to be set up and pushed hard to give the competitors an early advantage for the very full season ahead, it promises to be be an interesting two days.

Amongst the marques taking part are Lotus, Westfield, Mazda, Peugeot, Renault, Caterham, Audi, Sylva, Toyota, Porsche, VW, Alfa Romeo, TVR, Ford, Jedi and Megapin.

As well as being able to watch the action from the excellent vantage points around the scenic Anglesey Circuit, spectators are welcome to get close to the cars and competitors in the paddock at no additional cost.

The conclusion of these championship,s when the victors of the season long battles are decided, will take place on the weekend of October 6-7 at the Anglesey Circuit.
