The bodies of two men found on an Anglesey beach have been formally identified - with neither man from North Wales, police have said.

The discovery of the bodies at Malltraeth happened at 11.43am on Friday morning.

Police are linking the finding of the bodies to the discovery of a human foot on Wednesday at Felinheli beach.

Their deaths are being treated as unexplained.

Detective Inspector Gerwyn Thomas at Caernarfon CID said: "We have established the identities of the two men sadly found on the beach at Malltraeth on Anglesey and we are now in the process of contacting their next of kin.

"Neither of the men is from the North Wales area."

"Their deaths are currently being treated as unexplained as we carry out our investigation to establish the circumstances."
