MORE than 100 friends and family members turned out to pay their respects at the funeral of a Llandudno man whose body was found 11 weeks after he went missing.

The funeral of Michael Bryn Jones - which took place at 12.30pm at Holy Trinity Church in Llandudno on Tuesday - saw many mourners arrive in Manchester United FC as well as Wales football and rugby shirts in memory of Michael’s passion for sport and his country.

Michael Bryn Jones was last seen in the Bangor area on April 3. Following extensive searches by emergency services, family, friends and volunteers his body was found in the woods near Caerhun on Tuesday, June 21.

Mr Jones’ mother Eileen Slinn said she was very pleased that so many people attended the funeral, adding: “It’s a comfort to know he was so well cared for.”

In a moving eulogy, Mr Jones’ friend Ian Burns said: “We all knew how much mike enjoyed the outdoors, he always seemed happiest in the hills and the open.

"We all have so many great memories of Mike, his heart, his kindness, his passion for Wales will live with us forever.

"He was such a caring man, and it is a credit that so many people are here today.

"You were always there for me when my spirits needed a lift, I cannot thank you enough."

Mr Burns also shared with the congregation memories of Michael, who had been his best man, in his childhood including how friends were always welcome at his family home in Craig y Don and how much he enjoyed Christmas time with his family.

Donations were collected in aid of Aberconwy Mind and B.I.R.D (the British International Rescue and Search Dogs).
