YOUNGSTER Will Sissons was the star of the show as Llandudno edged closer to the North Wales Premier Division crown.

The 15-year-old Rydal Penrhos pupil produced a stunning knock to give his side an 89-run triumph at title rivals Bangor, a result that leaves the long-time leaders 32 points clear at the summit ahead of Saturday’s clash with Pontblyddyn at The Oval. The visitors made a poor start when David Winter removed Danial Evans for ten, and there was further cause for concern when Sam Rimmington (15) and Tom Bleasdale (0) both fell to Gareth Edwards deliveries on his way to figures of 4-23. The resistance came from overseas star Robin Smith, who hit six boundaries on his way to 37 before he was superbly run out by Edwards. It was then the turn of Sissons to take over proceedings, with the Wales under 15s captain coming up with a mature knock beyond his years to tip the scale in the away side’s favour, hitting an unbeaten 62 off 117 deliveries as Tudno finished their allotted 50 overs on 210 all out. Captain Jack Rimmington got his side’s run defence off to a flyer by trapping opener Sion Evans lbw for eight, and Rhydian Morgan picked up a pair of valuable wickets to dispose of Winter and Nadeem Rehman for 18 and five. Tudno’s skipper then blew away both Syed Aslam and Rob Marshall for a pair of ducks, and player of the year candidate Francois Mosert made just 16 from 45 balls before he was run out by Matthew Lambe. Tom Thornton helped himself to a pair of lower order wickets in the form of Sohaib Khan (13) and Callum McCann, and Sissons restricted things on the other side to end an economical 12 overs spell with figures of 0-33. This proved to be enough despite an unbeaten 26 from Jamie Davies, as the home side mustered just 121 all out from their 44 overs.
