TRIBUTES have been paid to an 'adorable' Llandudno man whose body was found 11 weeks after he went missing.

Michael Bryn Jones was last seen in the Bangor area on April 3. Following extensive searches by emergency services, family, friends and volunteers his body was found in the woods near Caerhun on Tuesday, June 21.

During the weeks of desperate appeals for information from Michael’s family, a Facebook page dedicated to finding him gained more than 2500 likes and received thousands of comments from concerned friends and members of the public.

Michael's mother, Eileen Slinn, paid tribute to her son - a 39-year old self employed forestry worker who loved the outdoors and nature.

She said: "He was adorable, he'd listen to everybody's problems and sort them out. He was very popular.

"We've had thousands of Facebook comments from people saying they have met him and they'll never forget him.

"I can't thank people enough - I don't think we'd have got through it without their love and support all the way along, right from when he went missing."

Gavin Jones, Michael's brother, said: "He was as much a friend as a brother. He was a very caring person and he always went out of his way for you. He loved nature and going on long walks."

Mr Jones said he and Michael lost their father Alan Bryniog Jones at a young age, Michael being seven and Gavin five, which led Michael to become something of a father figure to his siblings.

Michael also leaves behind a brother named Mark, and sisters Melissa and Becky. During the months of Michael's absence, searches across Gwynedd and Conwy were carried out as well as volunteer led searches organised by Michael's brothers Gavin and Mark.

Eileen said her son's funeral will be a celebration of his life. Mr Jones' funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at Holy Trinity Church in Llandudno, at 12.30pm followed by a private committal service at Colwyn Bay Crematorium. Attendees may wear mourning dress if desired but Michael's family have also suggested Welsh football/rugby shirts, or Manchester United shirts in memory of Michael's passion for sport and his country.
