THE North Wales emergency services will be taking to the wicket next month.

A Twenty20 cricket match has been organised that will see North Wales Police take on North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service in support of the Ty Gobaith children’s hospice in Conwy.

It is the third consecutive year a match has been organised and it will be held at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club on Friday, July 16 at 6pm.

Deputy Chief Constable Ian Shannon said: “Over the last two years, North Wales Police have been victorious and we are hoping this is going to be third time lucky for us.

“As an organisation we are extremely proud to be supporting Ty Gobaith – who provides regular respite care for terminally ill children living in the North Wales area. The real purpose of the evening is to raise as much money as possible for charity and we are grateful to everybody who is contributing. Please come along and support Ty Gobaith as well as the teams, it should be a fantastic evening.”

Proceeds from the event will be matched pound for pound through Barclays Bank as part of their Community Investment Programme.

A pre-match competition has been arranged from 5pm to 6pm, where there will be an opportunity to win some great prizes. Tickets are available and are priced at £2 for adults, with children under 16 years of age free of charge.

After the match a raffle will be drawn to win attractive prizes donated by businesses including the Deganwy Quay Hotel, Welsh Mountain Zoo, Henllys Hall Golf Club and the Greenwood Forest Centre.

Tickets for the match and raffle are available by calling Dave Evans on 01745 588516, Adam Johnson on 01745 532996 or Tracey Williams on 01745 535285.
