IT'S A NEW year and the Little Theatre coming swinging out of the gates with cult favourites for 2020.

Returning to incredible John Carpenter for the third time following screenings of The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China, The Wicked Cult Cinema start's this year's programme with the 1988 classic They Live on Wednesday, January 15 at 7.30pm..

A film that can only truly be appreciated on the big screen, They Live sees the late WWE superstar Rowdy Roddy Piper as drifter Johnny Nada swap the baby oil for a pair of alien sunglasses that allow him to see the truth behind mass media's subliminal messaging.

What follows is a one man mission from the back alleys of Los Angeles to a Cable News station and right up to alien portal - all by the way off one of cinema's greatest punch ups, tons of unforgettable quotes and another of Carpenter's incredible scores.

Appearing on the cusp of the 1990s after the director hit the big time in the early 80s with films such as Halloween and The Fog, They Live pre-saged Generation X's trademark scepticism of sincerity and resurgent counter culture with a reach long enough to inspire street artist Shepard Fairey's clothing line OBEY in the 2000s.

So get yourself to the Little Theatre and either wear the glasses or expect to eat a trashcan!

Admission is £3, to book visit the Wicked Cult Cinema Facebook page or email andrewvirgo902@gmail.com.
