THE cast of a Rhyl institution are putting the final touches on their latest riotous rock and roll musical.

The players of Rhyl & District Musical Theatre Company will to take to the Little Theatre stage this month with their performance of the horror rock comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors.

The classic off-Broadway show - which was adapted to the silver screen both in 1960 and 1986 - Little Shop of Horrors follows a hapless Seymour Krelborn - played by Harrison Daly - is a poor nerdy orphan florist working at Mushnik's, a failing flower shop in urban Skid Row.

Seymour is berated by Mr Mushnik - Ron Jones - daily, but finds solace when he harbours a crush on fellow co-worker Audrey Fulquard - Melissa Bellis - a lovely girl that looks for love but lands the sadist dentist - Orin Scrivello - Michael Bradshaw - who enjoys bringing other people pain.

Audrey secretly longs to leave her abusive boyfriend, as her dream is to lead an ideal suburban life with Seymour.

Seymour finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant, Audrey II - Nikki Renshaw-Jones - which falls to earth from outer space during a sudden eclipse of the sun.

Audrey II has the power to give Seymour everything he desires, but when it’s appetite for blood becomes insatiable, Seymour realises this plant is a deadly threat to human existence.

The show includes several well-known songs including Skid Row (Downtown), Somewhere that’s Green, Suddenly Seymour and Feed Me! (Git it) as well as a trio of 1960s street urchins named Crystal, Ronette and Chiffon - Jessica Griffiths, Rhiannon Gordon and Hayley Sprake - who set the scene.

The show will be at The Little Theatre from Wednesday, November 20 until Saturday 23 at 7.30pm, with an additional matinee showing on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Evening show tickets are £12, and Saturday matinee tickets are £6. To book call the box office on 0333 666 3366 or visit rhylmusicaltheatre.co.uk
