ONE of this year’s major success stories will now become a staple of the Rhyl summer events calendar.

K-Fest will follow up its inaugural event this year with another three-day festival in 2020 at the Events Arena from Friday, July 31.

Taking place on the same weekend first festival, which saw thousands head to Rhyl across its three consecutive themed events, co-founder Kareem Ghani hopes that it will become a new fixture for the venue while serving as a launch pad for Rhyl’s other flagship events.

Father-of-two Mr Ghani, of Rhyl, said: “Here at K-Fest we are delighted with how our first event went, and we can't wait to do it all over again.

"We started planning 2020’s festival the day after the event and we’ve decided, after some discussion, to keep to the same weekend going forward.

“With how successful K-Fest was this year, it makes sense to stick with what works and avoid overlapping with any other events and act as a lead into things like the Airshow later in the month.

“We’ve already had people asking when the next K-Fest is happening and asking where they can book tickets.

“As people from Rhyl, we're also looking to see if we can the stage for K-Fest up for a couple weeks after the event in the future to encourage other events at the arena.”

While the date remains the same, Mr Ghani and fellow founder John Marchbank are currently finalising next year’s running order, with the dance line up taking place on the Friday, the live bands on Saturday and acts for children on Sunday.

Mr Ghani also hopes that following the success of this year’s event – which was headlined by dance legends Weiss and Judge Jules as well as Ian Broudie & The Lightning Seeds and Peppa Pig - that K-Fest 2020 will be bring in even bigger acts to the town.

Mr Ghani added: “We planned the first event for three years, with our first sit down with Denbighshire County Council taking place 18 months into the process. I'm confident that we’ve learned so much from the first K-Fest that we can put on something even bigger and better next year.

“We’ve got a successful track record now, so people in the music industry are starting to take us more seriously so expect even bigger names in Rhyl next summer."
