RHYL will hold two exciting events to welcome the Urdd Eisteddfod to Denbighshire in 2020.

Both events will take to the Rhyl Pavilion stage on Thursday, October 3 to celebrate Denbighshire talent in anticipation for the event set for Kilford Farm on the outskirts of Denbigh in May 2020.

Following a closed jamboree featuring more than 1,000 pupils and Jenny Pearson from ‘CânSing’ and the Welsh National Opera, the celebration will continue with an event open to the public from 7pm.

The special concert will be hosted by compere will be Nic Parry and will showcase the talents of Côr Cytgan Clwyd, Academi Indigo and Only Boys Aloud as well as another appearance from the Welsh National Opera and DMC Senior Brass Ensemble.

The concert will also feature a performance from a choir of 250 pupils from Ysgol Llywelyn, Y Castell, Ysgol Emmanuel, Ysgol Christchurch and Ysgol Trefnant who will be singing with Kiefer Jones, a soloist from Welsh National Opera.

Denbighshire County Council’s mMusic officer Eleri Watkins said: “We are really looking forward to the Eisteddfod coming to Denbighshire in 2020 and we would like to mark this by organizing lots of different events to make people aware of this important festival in our area.

“We are also very excited to work in partnership with ‘CânSing and Welsh National Opera and share the stage with local individuals, choirs and schools.”
